Product Introduction
IDAM (INA - Drives & Mechatronics) is a Schaeffler Group company specializing in linear and rotary direct drive systems.
Direct drive motors eliminate backlash, friction, and hysteresis associated with conventional mechanical transmission elements, providing maintenance-free, wear-free drive solutions. They are widely used in machine tools, production machinery, automation, photonics/semiconductor, measurement technology, and medical technology applications.
The L1 linear motor consists of a Primary Part and a Secondary Part.
The L1 series offers three sub-series — L1A, L1B, and L1C — covering a wide range of force outputs.
L1 motors are available in two connection variants: cable connection (standard) and terminal connection.
Direct Drive Advantages
Performance
- No motion conversion in drive chain — No backlash, friction, or hysteresis
- Compact motor — High force-to-mass ratio, usable from zero speed to maximum speed, high acceleration performance
- Direct position measurement — Dynamic and high-precision positioning
Operating Costs
- No additional moving parts — Reduced assembly, adjustment, and maintenance
- No wear in drive chain — Extremely durable under high alternating loads, reduced downtime
- High availability — Long service life, low wear, mechanical overload does not cause damage
Design
- Compact installation space — Compact drive module
- Fewer components — Proven design facilitates integration, low failure rate (high MTBF)
- Diverse design variants — Facilitates optimal integration
L1 Series Features
L1 linear motors are slotted, permanent-magnet excited AC synchronous linear motors. The coils are embedded in the stamped lamination slots of the primary part. The secondary part consists of an iron base and permanent magnets.
L1A
Installation height of only 31 mm, very compact with an excellent force-to-mass ratio.
L1B
Installation height 39 mm, optimized thermal power dissipation, higher continuous force than L1A at equivalent heat generation.
L1C
Installation height 53.5 mm (without cooling plate) / 65.5 mm (with cooling plate) / 66.5 mm (cooling plate + thermal insulation). Optimized thermal power dissipation, water cooling optional.
