The selection of the correct lubricant is crucial for the reliable functioning of the bearing. The lubricant should be selected according to the operating conditions of the bearing: temperature, compressive load, and speed.
Standard Grease
As the standard grease for our preloaded AX series, we use a special grease from Kluber, which is available directly from the manufacturer. It has good pressure and wear stability and contains no inorganic solid lubricants (such as MoS2 or graphite).
| Property | Value / Description |
|---|---|
| Temperature range | -40°C to +150°C |
| Base oil viscosity @ 40°C | ~130 mm²/s (DIN 51562) |
| Base oil viscosity @ 100°C | ~14 mm²/s (DIN 51562) |
| Color | Yellow |
| Consistency enhancer | Li-special soap |
| Oil type | Mixed synthetic hydrocarbon |
| NLGI class (DIN 51818) | 1 |
| Density | ~0.88 g/cm³ |
| Flow pressure (DIN 51805) | < 1400 mbar |
| Maximum storage duration | 36 months |
High elastomer compatibility allows the use of conventional sealants. If there are doubts about compatibility, the sealant material can be tested. For relubrication, we recommend using metering systems or central lubrication systems to avoid over-lubricating the bearing. The grease is always easily conveyed.
Do not remove pre-greased bearings from the protective packaging until just before assembly. To avoid grease aging, we recommend installing bearings within one year of delivery. Maximum storage duration from delivery should not exceed 3 years.
Grease Mixing Requirements
If other greases are to be used for relubrication, miscibility must be checked. Greases can be mixed under the following conditions:
- Identical base oil basis
- Consistent thickener type
- Similar base oil viscosities (within one ISO-VG class)
- Matching NLGI class
Using incompatible base oils or soap bases will lead to premature bearing failure.
Special Lubricant
For high-speed applications, we can provide you with suitable lubricants upon request. Please contact myonic application engineering for this purpose.
Preservatives
The corrosion protection oil used is compatible and miscible with most mineral oil-based greases and oils. When using synthetic lubricants and consistency enhancers other than lithium (complex) soap, check compatibility. If incompatible, consult myonic for further procedures.

Grease Operating Period
The grease operating period indicates how long the grease is able to sufficiently lubricate the bearing without relubrication. After the grease operating period is reached, the bearing can only function to a limited extent. The bearing may fail relatively quickly due to lubricant failure. If the grease operating period is shorter than the calculated bearing life, it becomes the determining variable. This applies when the rolling bearing cannot be relubricated. The calculation of the grease operating period is based on statistical principles, assuming constant operating conditions and suitable and sufficient lubricant.
The following operating parameters are required for approximate calculation of the grease operating period:
- Load cycle in series operation (speed, duty cycle, standstill time, ...)
- Bearing temperature (if available)
- Bearing cooling (if available)
Please contact myonic application engineering for grease operating period calculations.
Relubrication Intervals
The relubrication procedure should be performed while the bearing is at operating temperature and rotating slowly. This ensures even distribution of grease in the bearing. With a calculated relubrication interval of more than 1 year, we recommend relubricating the bearing after 1 year with the defined grease quantity.
Please contact myonic application engineering for relubrication interval calculations.
