If short work tables are to be moved on long guideways, the use of overtravel slides is appropriate. This ensures that the superstructure is supported over its entire length at all times, which has a positive effect on load capacity and rigidity.

To minimize pulsation when the slide enters, short guideways are equipped with rounded run-ins. The run-ins are ground after the guideway has been manufactured.

In rare cases (e.g., under extremely high preload), despite rounded run-ins, pulsation of overtravel slides may still adversely affect the application. This phenomenon can be largely eliminated by taking appropriate measures (available on request).
