When the rolling element does not travel beyond the position of the next rolling element in one stroke, we call this a short stroke application.
Normal Stroke
A continuous lubricating film forms beneath the rolling elements
Short Stroke
Local indentations form on the track due to wear. At high-frequency strokes, the lubricating film is also interrupted
Due to the concentration of the track at these points (forming wear indentations), the accuracy and service life of the guideway are reduced. When strokes are very frequent, standard lubricants can no longer reach the contact points.
Wear can be delayed by using suitable lubricants and regular lubrication strokes.
⚠️ Important Note
Short strokes significantly reduce the service life of guideways. The service life of guideways can only be determined through testing.
