15 Installation Requirements
15.1 General
MINI-X products are high precision components. The flatness requirements for the base structure are correspondingly high to ensure that surface inaccuracies are not transferred to the guideway.
MINI-X guideways perform best when installed on rigid structures with a high level of geometric accuracy. Inaccuracies in the guideway mounting surfaces will negatively impact the overall accuracy, running behavior, push force and service life. Unstable mounting surfaces increase the internal forces in the guideway components, which also adversely affects service life. Due to the lower rigidity and limited machining accuracy of light metals, extra care must be taken when designing light metal base structures for high precision applications.
The guideways are pressed onto the mounting surface with high force through the mounting screws. To prevent loosening of the assembly, a high surface contact ratio is required. This is achieved through high surface quality.
