6.2.1 Measuring Systems
SCHNEEBERGER offers integrated measuring systems for BM and MR types.
The measuring length of most systems is limited to 6 meters. For longer measuring lengths, AMSA-3L based on MR roller guide rails and incremental analog interface can be used.
AMSA 3L is realized thanks to the high-precision construction of the guide rails in both mechanical and metrological aspects. The special design of the guide rail butt joints combined with the AMSA-3L reading head enables it to operate across joints and construct measuring axes of any length.
AMSA 3L Measuring System
AMSA 3L products feature the following characteristics:
- Long measuring length
- High accuracy maintained over long measuring lengths
- Operates across joints without loss of accuracy
- Built-in electronics in reading head
- No additional electronics required
- Individual guide rail segments interchangeable
- Single reading head for all sizes
6.2.2 Guide Rail Types
Guide rails with integrated optical scales do not differ from standard guide rails in cross-sectional geometry.
However, the product range is limited in terms of fixing options:

6.2.3 Carriage Types
All AMS systems can be combined with any carriage available for the guide rail system (except K-type carriages). For detailed information on different carriage types, see Section 4.3 - Carriage Types.
