MONORAIL General Precautions
Precautionary Measures - General Information
General Precautions
Please observe the following points to ensure your MONORAIL guideway system maintains good working condition throughout its service life.
Important Reminder
All SCHNEEBERGER products are appropriately packaged before shipment and stored at the factory's shipping destination. Systems must be protected from vibration, shock, and humidity during transport.
Storage Recommendations
Please note that covering the holes on the slide rails for handling, transport, and installation should only be performed by qualified personnel. Please refer to the download area at www.schneeberger.com for plug-ins on slide rails or installation instructions.
Packaging Requirements
Guideway systems must be adequately supplied with suitable lubricant to withstand the expected motion and load conditions, as well as speed. If necessary, contact your lubricant supplier, who will be happy to advise you on selecting the correct lubricant. Recommendations can also be found at www.schneeberger.com.
Temperature Conditions
Storage temperature: 0 C to +40 C, in compliance with DIN 50015 climate conditions. High humidity and extreme temperature changes must be avoided, otherwise there is a risk of condensation.
Lubrication Precautions
Before use, the compatibility of coolant and lubricant must be checked and tested by the user to exclude any adverse effects on the guideway system. If emulsions or other chemicals are present, guideway systems should be equipped with protective covers or appropriately positioned.
Lubricant Compatibility
If contact with emulsions or other chemicals is anticipated, guideway systems should be equipped with protective covers or appropriately positioned.
Initial Lubrication
Newly installed guideway systems must be adequately lubricated before first operation. Ensure all raceways and rolling elements have sufficient lubricant coverage.
Regular Maintenance
Replenish lubricant regularly according to operating conditions. More frequent lubrication maintenance is required under high load, high speed, or harsh environmental conditions.
Lubricant Selection
Use recommended lubricant types and grades. Lubricants from different brands may be incompatible; consult your supplier before switching lubricants.
Wiper Maintenance
If the guideway is exposed to hot chips, additional wipers are recommended. Wipers on the end plates and additional wipers equipped on MONORAIL carriages must be regularly inspected for wear and tear and replaced when necessary.
| Inspection Item | Recommended Frequency | Treatment Method |
|---|---|---|
| Wiper Wear | Monthly | Check seal edges for cracks or wear |
| Wiper Deformation | Quarterly | Confirm wiper makes good contact with rail surface |
| Contaminant Accumulation | Depending on environment | Remove contaminants from rail surface and wipers |
Safety Instructions
Safety Warning
If the carriage is overloaded, insufficiently lubricated, or improperly maintained, the carriage may detach from the rail. Appropriate design and technical safety measures must be taken by the user to prevent any risk of carriage separation from the rail due to loss of rolling elements.
Possible safety measures include, for example, installing safety clamps around the rail. Regulations of professional associations, relevant guidelines, and application-related standards must be observed.
Recommended Safety Measures
Mechanical Protection
Install safety clamps or guards around the rail to prevent accidental carriage detachment that could cause hazards.
Load Monitoring
Ensure actual operating loads do not exceed specified load capacity. Consider the effects of dynamic loads and impact loads.
Regular Inspection
Regularly inspect carriage operating condition, including preload, clearance, and running smoothness.
Installation Recommendations
| Step | Description | Precautions |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Clean Support Surface | Remove all dirt, grease, and burrs from the machine bed support surface | Use appropriate cleaning agents and lint-free cloths |
| 2. Check Flatness | Confirm support surface meets specified flatness requirements | Grinding or scraping treatment if necessary |
| 3. Install Rail | Place rail on support surface, align with reference surface | Lightly fix first, fully tighten after confirming position |
| 4. Install Carriage | Carefully slide carriage onto rail | Avoid rolling element falling out, use auxiliary guide devices |
| 5. Initial Lubrication | Perform complete lubrication before first operation | Ensure all raceways have sufficient lubricant |
| 6. Function Test | Perform full stroke test at low speed | Check running smoothness and abnormal noise |
