The load capacity is based on the DIN ISO standard 14728 for rolling contact bearings.

According to the DIN standard, in most applications a permanent overall deformation of 0.0001 times the rolling element diameter is permissible without adversely affecting the operating behavior of the bearing. This is known as the static capacity C₀. When designing new applications, we recommend that the equivalent static load should comply with the dynamic load capacity (C) to avoid plastic deformation.

The dynamic load capacity C is the load at which the nominal service life L can be achieved for a travel distance of 100,000 meters. When calculating service life, it is important to consider not only the loads acting vertically on the guideway, but also the load range of all acting forces and moments.

The service life corresponds to the travel distance (in meters) covered by the guideway. This is the distance before the first signs of material fatigue occur within the roller guideway elements. The nominal service life is achieved when 90% of guideways of identical construction achieve or exceed the corresponding travel distance under normal operating conditions.

Critical to guideway sizing is the load occurring in relation to the dynamic load capacity C.

Definition of Service Life

As mentioned previously, the dynamic load capacity C₁₀₀ is based on a service life of 100,000 meters. Other manufacturers often specify load capacity C₅₀ for a service life of 50,000 meters. The resulting load capacity is more than 20% higher than specified in the DIN ISO standard.

Conversion Examples

For Balls

To convert load capacity according to DIN ISO standard to C₅₀:

C₅₀ = 1.26 × C₁₀₀

To convert C₅₀ load capacity to DIN ISO standard:

C₁₀₀ = 0.79 × C₅₀

For Rollers and Needles

To convert load capacity according to DIN ISO standard to C₅₀:

C₅₀ = 1.23 × C₁₀₀

To convert C₅₀ load capacity to DIN ISO standard:

C₁₀₀ = 0.81 × C₅₀

C₅₀ = Dynamic load capacity C for a travel distance of 50,000 meters (in N)

C₁₀₀ = Dynamic load capacity C for a travel distance of 100,000 meters as defined in DIN ISO standard (in N)
